Stakeholders’ Partnership Dialogue on Early Warnings for Disaster Prevention

BCRA Secretariat participated Stakeholders’ Partnership Dialogue on Early Warnings for Disaster Prevention at 10am on 18th May at Bangladesh Television Office, Dhaka with the aim of setting up a Task Group between the Bangladesh National Disaster Management Authority, Bangladesh Meteorological Services and ABU Members – Bangladesh TV, Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Community Radio Association (BCRA) for working together to strengthen Early Warnings for All.

Mr. Syed Tarikul Islam, General Secretary of BCRA and Ms. Sumita Rabidas, Program Coordinator, BCRA represented Community Radios and reflected the role of Community Radios’ disaster response. Moreover, impacts of disaster on community radios are also discussed with importance.

In addition, the role of the Meteorological Department and Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief were also added value in the event. Md. Faruque Ahmed, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Syeda Tasmina Ahmed, Director General, Bangladesh Television; Mr. Nasrullah Md. Irfan, Director General, Bangladesh Betar; Mr. Mohammad Nazmul Abedin, Joint Secretary (Admin and Service), Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Mr. Netai Chandra Dey Sarker, Director (MIM), Department of Disaster Management, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief; Ms. Natalia Ilieva, Strategic Advisor of Secretary – General, Global Manager WBU/UNDRR Media Saving Lives initiative and Mr. Russell, Media Consultant, UK were present at the event.
